If you’re looking for a counsellor with all the answers, one who is going to give you advice and “fix” you then I’m not the counsellor for you. So, what will I do as a person centred counsellor? I work with you to build a non-judgemental therapeutic relationship in which we can explore whatever has brought you to counselling – it maybe depression, anxiety, stress, relationship problems; it maybe a specific issue you’re dealing with or a desire to understand yourself better. As we work together my aim is allow you to bring forward your own solutions through a process of understanding your experiences and emotions.

Taking the first steps and starting to work with a counsellor isn’t always easy, and sometimes the thought of sitting in a counselling room can seem overwhelming. If this is how you feel I can offer sessions outside in Shropshire parks and woodlands using aspects of nature-based therapy (or ecotherapy) as an alternative to more traditional therapy settings. Working alongside nature can add another element to counselling but whether we are indoors or outside my practice is firmly person centred and aimed at helping you explore and understand your feelings.

I’m a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP working towards further accreditation. My experience is varied, counselling young adults as well as adults in the voluntary sector and working with clients with diagnoses such as bipolar, borderline personality disorder and generalised anxiety disorder as well as those with learning difficulties and autism. I have a particular interest in working with issues around gender, sexual identity and relationship diversity but no matter what brings you to counselling I believe that the first step – picking up the phone or dropping me an email – is one worth taking.
