My specialist areas:

  • Play and Creative Arts Therapy, for Children and Young People (aged 4 years +)
  • Nature Based Therapy

For many years, I have been privileged enough to work alongside children and young people, witnessing the world through their eyes – and it’s not as simple and straightforward as I remember my childhood being. With an educational background, I trained as a Play and Creative Arts Therapist, specialising in working with children and young people. I work in a non-interpretive, non-judgmental and non-directive manner, enabling the children and young people to lead their own therapeutic process. I trust the young people that I work with to listen to their inner voice, and support them, in a safe and confidential space, as they make sense of the world around them.

For many of us, whether we are children, young people or adults, it can be difficult to find the exact words to explain how we are feeling and what we are going through. By using play and creative arts materials, I provide alternative forms of communication, rather than relying on words as the primary way of expressing thoughts and feelings. Play and creativity also help us to connect with our inner most feelings, sometimes providing answers that we hadn’t known we were searching for.

I have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people between the ages of 3 and 17, in a variety of different settings. I am available at The Practice Shrewsbury for individual sessions and can offer half and full day therapy packages to schools around Shrewsbury and Telford, working with both individuals and small groups. If an indoor space doesn’t sit comfortably with you, I have a strong belief in the therapeutic advantages of nature and the great outdoors, let’s go and explore!

I am a certified Play and Creative Arts Therapist, registered with Play Therapy UK, I hold a DBS certificate for working with children and young people. I am also a qualified Forest School and Baby Bonding Practitioner.
